Summer Weight Lifting Begins–Waiver Required

The summer weight lifting program for athletes will begin June 1 under strict guidelines. Coaches have communicated with their players this information and the lifting session that they are to attend. Students and their parents MUST SIGN A WAIVER prior to Monday, June 1. Students must bring the waiver with them on that day. Escandons Earn State Medals

Congratulations to Daniel Escandon and Jose Escandon–both wrestlers placed at the State Wrestling tournament in Omaha.  Jose placed 5th in the 113 pound weight class and Daniel was 4th in the 126 pound weight class.  Danny and Jose competed hard and represented Gibbon well. Congratulations to them and their coaches.

Basketball Games Postponed Until Tuesday

The basketball games scheduled for tonight with Doniphan-Trumbull have been postponed until Tuesday, January 21.

Tonight’s (Tuesday) Gibbon vs. Shelton basketball games can be heard on Classic Hits Power99 (98.9 FM) or listened to online at beginning with the girls varsity pregame at 5:45 pm. The boys game will follow at approximately 7:30 pm.

Cross Country Photo and Check In

  • Varsity cross country check in is immediately after school tonight (Tuesday). Everyone must go to Mr. Stall’s room after school. If you do NOT have your stuff with you Mr. Stall will take you to your house and get the items after everyone else has checked in their items.
  • We also will have a photo with your warm-up jackets. All need to be present.
  • Jr. High cross country runners please bring your cross country uniforms to my room sometime this week.

Subdistrict Volleyball Game Broadcast

The C1-10 Subdistrict volleyball games on Monday and Tuesday, October 28-29, will be broadcast on Classic Hits Power 99 and The Gibbon versus Minden game starts at 4:30 pm on Monday at Holdrege.

Football Game Broadcast

This Friday, October 25, the Gibbon versus Wood River football game can be heard on Classic Hits Power 99 (98.9 FM) or online at beginning with pregame at 6:30 pm. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Wood River.

Subdistrict Volleyball Monday At Holdrege

Gibbon will play Minden in the first round of the C1-10 Subdistrict Volleyball Tournament on Monday, October 28, at 4:30 pm at Holdrege High School. Cross Country Teams Qualify for State

Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams for qualifying for state. Both teams finished in 3rd place at Districts which qualified them for the NSAA State Championships held at Kearney Country Club this Friday, October 25. The girls race begins at 2:00 pm and the boys race begins at 3:00 pm. Congratulations to the following for earning individual medals: Alissa Bailey placed 9th, Lindsay Wilkens 13th and Jade Bentley 15th. In the boys race, Kaleb Pickel placed 3rd and Nathan Holcomb 7th. Great job and good luck at state!

LPC Volleyball Tournament

The Lou-Platte Conference Volleyball Tournament begins Monday, October 14, and the finals are scheduled for Thursday, October 17, at Ord High School. Gibbon has earned the #5 seed and will play #4 seed Ord at Centura High School on Monday at 6:00 pm in the first round. The winners will advance to Tuesday semi-finals at Ord. Cross Country Teams Continue To Run Well

Congratulations to the boys cross country team on winning the Ord Invitational on Friday and to the girls cross country team for placing 4th. Kaleb Pickel was the Champion of the boys race. Congratulations! Great job, Gibbon Buffs.

Calendar Change–Junior High Football Game

The junior high football game scheduled for September 26, at St. Paul has been moved to Tuesday, September 24. The starting time for the game will remain at 5:00 pm.

Help Needed For Volleyball Games

State Track Qualifiers

Congratulations to the following state track qualifiers: Jade Bentley–1600 m. run, 3200 m. run, 3200 m. relay; Nathan Holcomb–3200 m. run; River Smyth–Long Jump; and Alissa Bailey, Jalyssa Gillming, and Kaylee Palmieri 3200 m. relay. The NSAA State Track and Field Championships will be held on Friday-Saturday, May 17-18, in Omaha. Best of luck to all qualifiers. Go Buffs!

Gibbon Jr. High Track Meet Time Change

The Gibbon Junior High Track Invitational scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, will begin at 10 a.m. This is a change from the original start time.

Minden Track Meet Cancelled

The varsity track meet scheduled for Friday, April 12, at Minden has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Track Meet Date Change

The varsity track meet scheduled for Friday, March 29, at Grand Island Central Catholic has been moved to Thursday, March 28. The meet will start at 11:00 a.m.
